                    Korean Pastor says “Vanuatu can be transformed through Overseas Mission.”

A Korean Pastor by the Name Peter Bong, who served in Vanuatu for over 8 years teaching mission workers says the only way Vanuatu can rise high and emerged from any economical crises and to be rich in the region and globally is to focus on Spiritual Revival by sending more Mission workers overseas to the unreached tribes and in return God will pour his blessings to the people of Vanuatu.

Pastor Peter made this statement with a very close example to his country Korea, which was a very poor country previously but now hails to be one of the richest countries in the world today through overseas missionary sending. He said Korea went into a whole process of transformation starting from 1960s when Korean churches started sending missionaries and there was huge changes in Spiritual Revival and Mental Reformation as people started to change their attitudes, which results in economic development. Timely at the situation the country started receiving big economic cooperation fund from Japan.

His vision for Vanuatu was based on the great commission (Mattew 28: 19,20) that states, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age”.

With his great vision for Vanuatu the Korean Pastor started to build a new Missionary Training Center at South Santo from 2011 and will soon open on March 18 2013, which will specifically train overseas mission workers. The name of the training college is “Tyrannus Mission Center(TMC)”. 

The idea behind the scene to build TMC on Santo was a trace back and support to the prophetic declaration of Portuguese captain Pedro Fernandez de Quiroz on May 1606, which prophesied as follows, “In the name of Jesus Christ, on this day of Pentecost, I take possession of all this part of the South as far as the pole in the name of Jesus which from now on shall be called the Southern Land of the Holy ghost (Espiritu Santo) the holy and sacred evangel may be preached zealously and openly”.

Pastor Peter traced back to the Spiritual Revival of Vanuatu and the commemoration of 400 years anniversary at Matantas Santo on 14 May 2006 as the beginning of transformation in Vanuatu. He then described the Silver Jubilee of Independence of Vanuatu on 2005 as a big change in life, maturity or mental reformation for the country of Vanuatu and its people. Timely at the time, the Millennium Challenge Fund (MCF) of US$ 65 million was provided to Vanuatu for economic development with the grace of God. These three big changes occurred simultaneously in Vanuatu when Pastor Bong came to Vanuatu as a missionary in 2005. He received a very strong revelation from God that Vanuatu will be blessed and transformed spiritually, mentally and physically. He says that he had already experienced a similar transformation and change in Korea 60 years ago. Now the same blessings have already started in Vanuatu and now Vanuatu Christians should rise and shine the light to the unreached tribes with God’s Great Commission.

With the vision of sending the well-trained overseas missionaries, the Korean Pastor has already been looking at the countries like Solomon Islands, PNG, and Indonesia and other remote world. Students will be trained for 1 ½ years before reaching out for their missions. TMC will train the students in the area of Carpentry, Farming, Small Business, Computing as well as the Cross-cultural Mission. 

Asked about why those supplementary courses must be taught, Pastor Peter says, “In order to survive in the unreached tribes in other countries you have to be fully equipped in all areas. This means you must know how to grow your own food, know how to build your own house and church and even know how to communicate with the current use of internet and a computer”.

Many students are already looking forward to studying at the Mission Center and served to the unreached tribes overseas. Pastor Peter is encouraging youths to make right decisions to be part of his student as in return God will pour his blessings into the nation and their family.
